Telescan Geek Meet

KevinWood e-mailed:
The programmers aka geeks at Telescan had meetings to just socialize and we have one coming up. This is the first one in years, they were weekly. Geeks Meet is at 4 pm this Sunday (3/1) at the Fuddruckers on Westheimer & Kirkwood. I have talked to Richard Carlin and e-mailed several others. I hope we have a good number of people.

Telescan T-Shirts

While tossing out ancient t-shirts I ran across some Telescan memorabilia.

I remember Richard Carlin handing these shirts out in front of the server room. 1998 was a promising time. Wall Street City was growing by leaps and bounds and we were talking with CNBC. Telescan employees with stock options in the $1.50 range were quite happy.

Was it April or May 1995? I can't remember. I do remember the weeks leading up to the release of TIP were a blur. Very busy times, in the Richmond Avenue building a year before Telescan moved one last time.
I don't think anyone ever figured out what that big plate glass wall with the blue painted backdrop in the reception area was supposed to be. A TV set?

FYI, in case you haven't heard the Investools Houston office was shut down.

Rick Hoselton

Rick Hoselton writes:
Rick Hoselton has moved to Chicago to work for a hedge fund. (No, I don't program in Forth anymore.) His desk is about six feet from John Gallagher, another former Telescaner. He got married to Janice Hawkins (she attended a few Telescan Christmas parties, you might remember) in Oct 2005, where many of the guests were Telescan "exes" as well, including Wade Johnson, John Gallagher, Kevin Wood, Tuyen Tran, Belinda Aber, Danny Hoover, and Eileen Mooney. The best man was Paul Frenger a wayyyy ex Telescaner....My years at Telescan are a very special memory. Some of the finest people I have ever known.
I agree!

Scott LaRoche

I'm working at a company called Innoventions as the Sales and Marketing Director. We manufacture a computer memory tester called RAMCHECK. Things that IT guys would use to maintain servers and PCs. My wife and I have two wonderful children.

Welcome ex-employees of Telescan, Inc.

I thought I'd start this blog as a way to get in contact with other ex-employees of Telescan, Inc. For many of us, working at Telescan was our first "real" job after graduating from college. I think it would be interesting to find out what former employees are up to.

As you probably know, Telescan is no more. It was merged into an entity called Investools. As far as I know, there is no longer an office in Houston. I believe the former office in Redwood City is closed as well.

Please feel free to post. The only thing I ask is that I don't want any venting here. If you have a beef with someone, or if you have a beef with the company, please keep it to yourself.
